About Vetter PR

During the past 16 years as owner and operator of Vetter PR, Inc., and the 14 previous years working for regional PR/Communication firms, Don Vetter has handled media relations, marketing, advertising, issue management, economic development, and community relations work for clients in Nevada, Oregon, California, Canada, Missouri and Mississippi.

His experience includes work in the following: local government, gaming, legal, real estate, manufacturing, high-tech, telecommunications, master-planned communities, health care, natural resources, mining, grant research/acquisition and recreation/tourism.

He has helped lead and manage the economic development and community capacity building efforts throughout Northern Nevada, most recently with for the newly formed Nevada 95-80 Regional Development Authority and the Western Nevada Development District.  

Don has also worked on several successful local ballot issues including the 2001 passage of WC-1 for parks libraries and open spaces, as well as the 2002 passage of WC-2 for regional transportation funding. In 2008 he coordinated the strategic programs for the passage of RTC-2, another local highway funding ballot measure.

He is the former Public Information Officer for Washoe County with experience in water, land development and growth, public works construction and public involvement projects. He began his career as a print and broadcast journalist with more than 15 years’ experience at outlets in Utah, California and Nevada. He covered politics, local government, growth, transportation, natural resources, and public lands issues.

In 1985, Don was part of team that won the best spot news writing award from the Associated Press News Executives Council of California and Nevada, and in 1989 he was recognized with Best Investigative Reporting Award from the Nevada Society of Professional Journalist for a month-long report on the northern Nevada’s water issues.
